Romans 8:18 – Today’s Verse for August 31, 2025 Sunday

“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.“
—  Romans 8:18 KJV

Reflection on Today's Verse

When Paul says the sufferings of this present time aren’t worth comparing to the glory that’s coming, he isn’t brushing pain aside. He isn’t telling us to toughen up or act like it doesn’t hurt. He’s saying: weigh it. Put your pain on one side of the scale and God’s promised glory on the other. The balance doesn’t even twitch. Glory outweighs it so completely that the suffering becomes a shadow compared to the brilliance of what’s ahead.

I think about the times I’ve been buried under grief or loss, wondering if I’ll ever breathe again. In that space, this verse doesn’t sound like a motivational poster—it sounds like survival. It tells me there’s more than what I can see right now. More than this aching moment. More than this cracked world. Do you ever notice how suffering makes time stretch? A day feels like a year. But glory will do the opposite—it will stretch joy across eternity.

This isn’t escapism; it’s endurance. The verse doesn’t deny the weight of suffering. It just tells me the story isn’t over, and the ending is brighter than my imagination will allow. Sometimes I need to remind myself: everything hurting me now will not follow me home.

Personal Prayer

Father, when the weight of this world feels too heavy, remind me that it’s only for a moment compared to the eternal joy You’ve prepared.

Fix my eyes not on the pain in front of me, but on the glory ahead of me. Strengthen me to endure, not with gritted teeth, but with hope rooted in Christ. Amen.
