But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. — Romans 7:6 KJV
But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code. — Romans 7:6 NIV
Thought and Reflection
We are not bound by law! Does this mean that we are free from anarchy and the lawlessness? Absolutely no! Not really, since the grace that liberated us allowed God’s Holy Spirit to dwell within us. He is able to help us accomplish things we couldn’t accomplish by ourselves.
He can help us in our weak moments to pray with confidence and fervor towards the Father. With the help of God, we can be welcomed into a community of faithful friends, bound to faith in the power of God as well as the Spirit of Christ. Thanks God for this “new way”.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for redeeming and freeing me from the demands of law. Thank You for putting Your Holy Spirit within my heart to enable me to become more than I could ever dream of if I were to try to keep the Law. In Jesus name I praise You. Amen.
