“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.“
— Romans 6:23 KJV
Reflection on Today's Verse
It’s one of those verses that hits you like a bucket of cold water and hands you a warm blanket at the same time. On one side, there’s the paycheck we earn by choosing our own way — death. No surprises there. Sin never writes you a bonus check; it pays in emptiness and decay. On the other side? A gift we never earned and can’t buy — forever life through Jesus. It’s not an upgrade we deserve, it’s pure grace.
The contrast is wild: one road you pay for in full, one road He already paid for. Sin keeps a ledger; God hands you a gift receipt.
Personal Prayer
Lord, thank You that what I deserved and what You gave me are worlds apart. Help me live like someone who knows this gift is real.
Teach me to leave behind the wages of sin and embrace Your gift with a thankful heart. Amen.
