“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.“
— Romans 6:14 KJV
Reflection on Today's Verse
Sin talks like a landlord. Grace changed the lease. “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” I used to treat temptation like a boss with payroll. Do what it says, feel bad later, repeat. But grace doesn’t negotiate with tyrants; it removes their badge. Law could name my debt; grace paid it—and put me in a new household. So why keep answering the old door?
Next time that familiar urge knocks, try this: stand where God placed you and say, No dominion here. Not bravado—position. You’re under grace. Different air. Different rule. Holiness stops being a desperate sprint and starts looking like walking with the One who already won. Honestly, the days I remember this, the noise drops. The days I forget, I crawl back under a yoke that isn’t on my neck anymore. Which world are you standing in right now?
Personal Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You that sin has no dominion over me because I am not under the law but under grace. Set my reflex to trust, not fear. When old chains rattle, remind me they’re broken.
Train my mouth to answer temptation with Your truth, and my feet to walk free. Let gratitude fuel obedience today. Amen.
