“Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.“
— Romans 3:27-28 KJV
Reflection on Today's Verse
Boasting dies here. Paul shuts the door and throws the key in the river. I know how quick my heart wants to keep score—hours prayed, temptations dodged, spiritual chores checked off like righteousness is a punch card. Then this verse walks in and flips the table: justified by faith, apart from works. No trophies. No merit badges. Just Christ—enough, or nothing else will ever be enough.
What do I actually bring? Empty hands. That stings the ego and frees the soul in the same breath. If the verdict is already read—“righteous in Christ”—why am I rehearsing a defense? Faith isn’t a clever trick; it’s dropping the props and leaning my whole weight on a finished work. The law of faith undercuts bragging and births gratitude. Strange math: the less I boast, the bolder I love. Grace gets the glory, and hypocrites turn human again. I can live from acceptance, not toward it. That changes everything.
Personal Prayer
Father, silence the scorekeeper in me. I lay down my little ledger and rest in Your Son’s finished work. Teach my heart the law of faith—deep trust, not noisy striving. When pride rises, drown it with Calvary’s certainty.
Let gratitude outrun guilt, obedience flow from love, and every good thing point past me to Christ. Keep me small, keep Jesus large, and let Your grace be the only boast on my lips today. Amen.
