“Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.“
— Romans 15:2 KJV
Reflection on Today's Verse
Sometimes we treat life like a solo sport, sprinting toward our own goals and hoping everyone stays out of the way. But this verse reminds us we’re in a relay race, not a hundred-meter dash. It’s not enough to win if everyone else stumbles.
Paul’s saying we grow taller by lifting the people next to us. It’s counterintuitive — you’d think looking after yourself would make you stronger. But real strength blooms when you put someone else’s good first. It’s risky and a bit messy.
You may feel like you’re losing a few minutes of your day or pieces of your patience. But God loves to multiply those small, generous moments into something unshakable and good.
Personal Prayer
Lord, help me to see my neighbors as people you deeply care about. Give me a heart that looks for ways to encourage, not compete. Teach me to choose their good over my comfort.
Make my hands quick to help, my words gentle, and my motives pure. Let my small acts of kindness grow into something strong in them—and in me. Amen.
