One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. — Romans 14:5 KJV
One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. — Romans 14:5 NIV
Bible Verse Reflection
We often allow our Christian relationships to be strained by our personal preferences, peer pressure and concerns about holidays or other celebrations. We are not allowed to push our opinions or positions on others. We are not to judge someone because they don’t celebrate a special day. And we’re certainly not to judge someone because she does. It is a matter personal conviction. This revolves around our desire for the Lord to be honored in all we do.
We shouldn’t be so anxious that we feel we must do the same as everyone else or force others to do what we want. Let’s instead remember the right perspective to view all things: Honor God with everything and consider the needs and wants of our brothers, sisters and cousins in Christ.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, we have broken the fellowship of your people by focusing on human observances, and not our preference. Please forgive us.
I pray for Your courage and wisdom to follow my convictions in honoring Christ. Grant me the wisdom to do it in ways that bless Your people and do not cause division.
Although I am sure I won’t be able to achieve this goal fully, I believe that with your help I can find ways to give You the glory and keep my fellowship with You. Please purify my heart and lead me in the right direction. In Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.
