Reflection on Today's Verse

We used to run headfirst into unbelief, didn’t we? Chasing our own wisdom, trusting our own strength, building towers that always fell apart. And God didn’t step in with judgment first—He stepped in with mercy. We were once the outsiders, shut out, blind and stubborn. But through Israel’s fall, God flung the door of grace wide open for Gentiles like us. It wasn’t earned. It wasn’t deserved. It was Him taking our rebellion and making it the very platform for His kindness. Tell me that doesn’t knock the pride right out of you.

If mercy met us in our unbelief, then we never get to act like we graduated beyond it. We live on mercy still. That’s the ground beneath our feet, the air in our lungs. Sometimes I think, what if God had left me where I was—hard, self-sure, dead in spirit? I wouldn’t even know what I missed. But He pulled me out anyway. Grace keeps finding me even when I’m dull to it, even when I forget how badly I needed it in the first place. That’s why we can never look down on anyone still stumbling in unbelief. They’re just one mercy away from a whole new story.

Personal Prayer

Lord, I remember where I came from—unbelief, pride, blindness. And I remember how You met me with mercy when I didn’t deserve it. Keep me low before You, grateful every day that I stand by grace alone.

Break any trace of arrogance in me. Let me see others not as obstacles, but as people You long to cover with the same mercy. Keep me tender, keep me watchful, keep me amazed. Amen.
