David, who wrote this psalm, wasn’t in a peaceful, easy moment when he said these words. If you read the whole chapter, he was drowning in trouble—literally using imagery of deep waters, enemies surrounding him, and exhaustion from crying out. But still, he lands here: praising and giving thanks.
And that’s the heart of real worship. Not just singing when life is smooth, but choosing to lift God’s name even when you feel like sinking. Thanksgiving is more than a reaction to blessings; it’s a weapon against despair. It shifts our focus from what’s wrong to Who is always right.
So, maybe today isn’t perfect. Maybe you’re facing something overwhelming. But there’s still breath in your lungs, and if there’s breath, there’s a reason to praise. What would it look like for you to glorify God with thanksgiving today, even in the struggle?
