Psalm 62:7 – Today’s Verse for December 17, 2024 Tuesday

“In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.”
Psalm 62:7 KJV

Reflection on Today's Verse

Let’s break this down, and not in some Bible scholar, ‘let me just toss 12 Greek words at you’ kind of way. Nope. Straight talk: David’s telling us that everything—our salvation, our dignity, our worth—rests on God. Like, imagine standing on a rock that doesn’t even know how to move. The rock’s rock-solidness is its whole identity. That’s God: immovable, unshakable, reliable—when the storms hit, He doesn’t even flinch.

When we forget this, we start leaning on flimsy things like approval, success, or that one friend who always hypes us up. Spoiler: those things are paper straws in a hurricane. They fold fast. But God? Refuge mode is always on.

And I love that David links salvation and honor here. It’s as if he’s saying, ‘Hey, your worth isn’t something you’ve gotta earn; it’s given to you by the One who saved you.’ You’re already signed, sealed, and redeemed. Your honor isn’t fragile. It’s anchored.

So let’s put it plainly: If life’s chaos is throwing punches, cling to the rock that doesn’t budge. Your refuge isn’t hiding under the covers with ice cream and Netflix—tempting as that sounds. It’s running to God, the One who doesn’t just save you but honors you, holds you, and reminds you that you are His.

Now go ahead, drop the mic. Or maybe just take a deep breath. God’s got you.”

Personal Prayer

Lord, You are my rock, my refuge, and my salvation. In a world that constantly shifts beneath my feet, remind me that You alone are steady and unshakable. When I’m tempted to find my worth in success, approval, or fleeting comforts, draw me back to You—my true source of honor and security. Help me trust that my salvation rests fully in Your hands, not in my efforts or achievements.

You are my refuge when life feels overwhelming, and I am grateful that I can run to You at any moment. Teach me to stand firm in Your promises, to breathe deeply in Your peace, and to rest securely in the truth that I am Yours.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
