“In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.“
— Psalm 31:1 KJV
Reflection on Today's Verse
God is a safe place. Life gets heavy. Worries pile up. People let us down. But God never does.
David, who wrote this psalm, knew what it was like to be in trouble. He had enemies. He had fears. But he didn’t run to people for safety. He ran to God. He said, “In You, Lord, I have taken refuge.”
A refuge is a place of safety. A hiding place. When storms come, we look for shelter. When life feels like a storm, God is our shelter.
David also prayed, “Let me never be put to shame.” Shame is heavy. It makes us want to hide. But when we trust God, He lifts our heads. He covers us with His grace.
The last part says, “Deliver me in Your righteousness.” That’s important. David didn’t ask to be saved because he was good. He asked to be saved because God is good.
We can pray this too. When we feel weak. When we feel afraid. When life feels too big. God is strong. He is safe. He is good. Run to Him.
Personal Prayer
Lord, You are my refuge. When life feels too heavy, I run to You. When I am afraid, You are my safe place. When I don’t know what to do, You are my guide.
I don’t want to carry shame. You see my heart. You know my struggles. Cover me with Your grace. Lift my head and remind me that I am Yours.
I trust You to deliver me, not because I deserve it, but because You are good. Your righteousness is my hope. Your love is my strength.
Hold me close, Lord. Keep me steady. I put my life in Your hands.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
