“Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.“
— Psalm 21:13 KJV
Reflection on Today's Verse
David doesn’t just say, “God, You are strong.” He says, “Be exalted in Your strength.” He’s calling for God’s power to be lifted up, displayed, made known. And in response? Worship.
It’s easy to focus on our own strength—our ability to handle things, to push through, to figure life out. But this verse flips that mindset. It reminds us that real security, real victory, comes from God’s strength, not ours. And when we truly grasp that, worship becomes the natural response.
Think about it: When was the last time you just stopped and praised God, not for what He’s done for you personally, but simply because He is mighty? Because He reigns? Because no matter what happens, His power is unshaken?
This verse invites us into that posture of worship. It reminds us that praise isn’t just something we do when we feel like it—it’s a response to who God is. Whether we’re in a season of victory or struggle, God’s strength is worthy of our praise. And that changes everything.
Personal Prayer
Lord, You are mighty, and Your strength is beyond anything I can comprehend. You hold the universe together, yet You also hold me. Today, I don’t want to just acknowledge Your power—I want to exalt it. Be lifted high in my life, in my heart, in my thoughts.
Help me shift my focus from my own strength to Yours. Too often, I try to carry burdens that were never mine to bear. But You are the One who fights for me, the One whose power never fades. Teach me to trust in Your might, not my own abilities.
And Lord, let my response to Your strength always be worship. Not just when things are going well, but even in the waiting, in the battles, in the unknown. You are still worthy. You are still in control. You are still good.
So today, I praise You—not just for what You’ve done, but for who You are. Be exalted in Your strength, Lord. Let my life be a song of praise to You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
