Psalm 138:8 – Today’s Verse for December 11, 2024 Wednesday

“The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.”
Psalm 138:8 KJV

Reflection on Today's Verse

God’s Got This: Seriously, the verse is like a warm hug and a firm nudge at the same time. God isn’t just passively watching your life unfold; He’s actively weaving His purpose into it. Even when you’re overthinking life’s details—like why your coffee always runs out too soon or why the Wi-Fi dies during a Zoom meeting—He’s not up in heaven saying, “Oops, I forgot about Susan!” No, He’s on it, like a master artist who refuses to abandon His masterpiece halfway through. Spoiler alert: you’re the masterpiece.

And then there’s that phrase, “Your steadfast love endures forever.” That’s the anchor. God’s love doesn’t fluctuate based on your performance. Bad hair day? Rough week? Forgot to pray for three days straight? Doesn’t matter. His love is still steady, still relentless. It’s the ultimate plot twist in a world where everything else seems so fragile and fleeting.

Now, I love how David sneaks in this little plea at the end: “Do not forsake the work of your hands.” It’s like, “God, I trust you’ll finish what you started…but just a little reminder, okay?” Isn’t that so us? Trusting but also gently reminding God, as if He needs sticky notes on His divine calendar.

So here’s the takeaway: Life is messy, you’re imperfect, and the journey’s unpredictable. But God’s purpose? It’s like GPS with no glitches. Trust it. And maybe laugh a little at how small your worries look next to God’s endless, enduring love.

Personal Prayer

Lord, You know me better than I know myself. You see the plans I’m trying to piece together, the hopes I hold onto, and the fears I hide. Thank You for the promise in Your Word that You will fulfill Your purpose for me. Even when I feel scattered or unsure, You are steady, working behind the scenes in ways I can’t always see.

Your love—it’s overwhelming. It doesn’t give up, doesn’t waver, and it never depends on me being perfect. Thank You for loving me just as I am, and for sticking with me as You shape me into who You’ve called me to be.

Father, I ask for patience to trust Your timing, for faith to believe in Your plan, and for peace to rest in Your steadfast love. Remind me, Lord, that I am Your work, and You never abandon what You’ve started. Keep me grounded in Your truth, even when life feels uncertain.

And if I ever start doubting, whisper to my heart again: “I’m not finished with you yet.”

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
