Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. — Philippians 4:11 KJV
I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. — Philippians 4:11 NIV
Thought and Reflection
Paul states to Timothy that the one of the most treasured things in life is finding contentment in God’s love. This treasure will make our physical circumstances become less important compared to the character we portray when we are in those situations. Our final outcome is not as important than loving God by the very core of our hearts.
The people who have a lot of money and exhibit godly character, an extremely difficult test according to Jesus is the ones who have proven that they’re content to live a godly life and be the kind of person, regardless of the wealth. The people who are poor and are godly have shown the same capability. Therefore, the most important thing isn’t how wealthy is our financial situation but how rich we are living in the grace of God.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that You will not let me rest with my uncontrollable and sometimes lustful heart, and help me find happiness within Your presence as well as Your character throughout my daily life. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
