Reflection on Today's Verse
No matter how strong your intentions may be, the flesh cannot produce the righteousness God requires. That inward struggle can leave you tired, disappointed, or discouraged. But this verse is not meant to leave you in despair. It prepares your heart to stop trusting yourself and to rest in Christ instead. The more you see the weakness of the flesh, the more precious the grace of God becomes.
Your victory is not found in trying harder through your own strength, but in depending on the Lord Jesus Christ and standing in what He has already done for you.
Personal Prayer
Lord, I thank You for showing me the truth about myself and my need for You. I confess that in my flesh there is no good thing, and I cannot overcome sin or weakness by my own strength. Help me not to trust in self-effort or become discouraged by my failures.
Teach me to rest in Your grace and to look unto Christ as my righteousness, my strength, and my peace. Let Your truth humble me, but also comfort me, as I remember that my hope is not in myself, but in what You have provided through Your Son. In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.
