And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. — Luke 2:20 KJV
The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. — Luke 2:20 NIV
Bible Verse Reflection
Can you picture those shepherds who returned home to their sheep after their night of sleep? They had witnessed God’s glory. They experienced an angelic presence. They saw the baby King, the Messiah who was promised and the one who would save the world. It was even more incredible that it was exactly what they were told. While the angel’s words of promise had been, they were also amazingly fulfilled.
Apart from all the things Jesus is at the time when He came into the world, He’s also the ultimate fulfillment of God’s biggest promises, and the best assurance that God does not break His promises. Amazingly, God chose shepherds, unknown to us and not important to their fellow shepherds as witnesses and part of God’s amazing story of redemption. It’s God’s way of reminding us that, no whatever we’re like, Jesus came for us because we are special to God.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, I really cannot imagine of what was it like for the shepherds who saw Your glory. But Lord, I know what Jesus is to me. I thank You for Your love and bringing me closer to You.
Purify my heart by the power that your Holy Spirit has done as I strive in my everyday life with gratitude for all You’ve given me. In Jesus glorious name I pray. Amen.
