Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. — Jeremiah 6:16 KJV
This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ — Jeremiah 6:16 NIV
Thought and Reflection
The temptation is a choice between the old way (God’s plan for our lives) as well as a new path offered by Satan. The path of Satan is often offered to us as a path to happiness success, prosperity, and fulfillment.
But, this path takes to a detour towards God and His blessings that He desires to bestow on us. We must not follow God’s people in Jeremiah’s time who rejected His plan and declared, “We will not walk in it.” Their decision was their own demise.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, forgive me for deviating away from Your way and looking for an option that is simpler and promises to bring me satisfaction more quickly. With Your Holy Spirit help me see through the deceitful facades of Satan’s temptations, and observe the bitter result.
I am sure that Your path is one of peace, joy and peace. I ask You to give me the courage to take it on with confidence. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
