Reflection on Today's Verse
Paul’s picture is simple: a little leaven spreads quietly until it affects the whole lump. That’s how “old leaven” works in real life too—small compromises, hidden bitterness, little lies you tell yourself, or a private habit you keep feeding “just this once.” It doesn’t stay small.
But God isn’t calling you into fear—He’s calling you into freedom. “Unleavened bread” is clean, plain, and honest. Sincerity means no masks. Truth means no double-life. This verse is an invitation to live lighter—without the secret weight, without the inner tug-of-war.
Today, don’t aim for perfect. Aim for clean and real:
Ask God to spotlight one “old leaven” you’ve tolerated.
Drop it into the light—confess it plainly.
Take one practical step to remove it (block it, delete it, apologize, forgive, walk away).
God loves you too much to let what’s hidden keep spreading.
Personal Prayer
Father, in Jesus’ name, thank You for Your patience and for calling me into a life of sincerity and truth. Show me where “old leaven” is still lingering in my heart… malice, pride, secret sin, bitterness, or anything I’ve been excusing. I don’t want a double life. I don’t want hidden rot. Clean me from the inside out.
Give me the courage to confess what needs to be confessed, to forgive who I need to forgive, and to cut off what keeps pulling me backward. Teach me to walk in the light with a pure heart and a steady mind. Let my words be honest, my motives be clean, and my choices reflect Your truth.
Help me keep the feast today, not with malice and wickedness, but with sincerity and truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
