Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. — Hebrews 13:2 KJV
Do not neglect hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it. — Hebrews 13:2 NASB
Reflection
Hospitality, in its purest form, is an expression of love and care for others. It is a tangible way of living out Jesus’ command to love your neighbor as yourself. When we open our hearts and homes to others, we reflect the inclusive love of Christ, who welcomed all who came to Him, regardless of their background or status.
Showing hospitality goes beyond inviting friends over for a meal. It involves a willingness to see and meet the needs of those around us, including strangers. It requires us to step out of our comfort zones and extend ourselves in service to others. This practice not only blesses those who receive our hospitality but also transforms us. It cultivates a spirit of generosity, compassion, and humility within us.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times I have been indifferent or reluctant to help. Renew my spirit and fill me with Your love so that I can pour it out onto others.
Thank You, Lord, for the blessings that come with hospitality. Thank You for the unseen angels and the unexpected blessings that accompany acts of kindness. I pray that my heart always be ready to welcome and my hands always be ready to serve.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
