Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. — Hebrews 11:1 KJV
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. — Hebrews 11:1 NIV
Bible Verse Reflection
Everything that God is revealing to us through the holy men of God is good and right and truthful and Scripture is intended to serve as an unshakeable foundation on which to build. It is not in any way comparable with the numerous excuses for faith, which are based on the sight of things, experience thoughts, opinions and dreams that excite the soul fuel our flesh, or cater to the human self-interest. Without faith, it’s impossible to be pleasing to God and Jesus declared, “blessed are those that have not seen – and yet have believed.”
We should let our hope in Christ and our faith in God be based on the truth of His Word, and founded by a solid conviction. Let us never fall when things seem to go off the rails, and be confident that “He who started a good work in each of our lives is well able to bring it to completion.”
My Prayer
Dear Father I am so entrenched in my own thought process that I often beg Your forgiveness and doubt Your promises, sometimes looking for some tangible evidence of Your unconditional love for me Yet Your Word gives me all the proof of this fact that I require – because Your Word and Promises are certain and Your faithfulness extends beyond the boundaries of space and time.
Thank God for faith-based gifts. And I pray each day, my trust on You, and in the truth that You have revealed in Your Word be ever more solid in my soul and I will strive at Your side in everything I do and say. In Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.
