Galatians 6:14 – Today’s Verse for July 25, 2025 Friday

“But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.“
—  Galatians 6:14 KJV

Reflection on Today's Verse

There’s something odd and beautiful about bragging only in the cross. Most people boast about wins—titles, talents, triumphs. Paul, though, flips the script. He says the only thing worth showing off is the place where everything looked like a loss. The cross wasn’t shiny. It wasn’t comfortable. It wasn’t popular. But it was the turning point of history, the place where death got defanged and pride got exposed.

Paul had credentials—if anyone could’ve name-dropped their way into heaven, it was him. But he throws all that in the trash and says, “If I’m going to boast, I’ll boast in the One who died nailed to wood for me.” Why? Because the cross did what his effort never could. It severed his tie to a world that measures value by status and applause.

The world’s scoreboard doesn’t count anymore. Jesus turned it upside down. So now, we live with different math: gain by surrender, strength through weakness, glory in the cross. Strange math. But it works.

Personal Prayer

Lord, keep me from reaching for applause when I already have Your approval.

Teach me to boast in the cross—not just when I’m desperate, but when I’m tempted to be proud.
Break my ties to the world’s trophies. Let the cross be enough.

Let me live like someone crucified with Christ—dead to ego, alive to grace.

Make my life a quiet billboard for Your mercy. Amen.
