Galatians 5:24 – Today’s Verse for November 23, 2024 Saturday

“And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”
Galatians 5:24 KJV

Reflection on Today's Verse

This isn’t about being perfect or sinless on your own strength (spoiler alert: you can’t). It’s about surrender. We belong to Christ now. When we said “yes” to Jesus, we didn’t just sign up for the forgiveness package; we got the full spiritual renovation deal. God’s Spirit is like, “Cool, now let’s declutter your soul Marie Kondo-style.”

And crucifixion isn’t instant—it’s a slow, painful process. Some days, you’re all in, chucking selfish desires out the window. Other days, you’re like, “Eh, maybe just one little grudge for the road?” The beauty of the gospel is that Jesus already carried the weight of your failures, so you don’t have to beat yourself up when you trip. You repent, get up, and keep walking by the Spirit.

Also, let’s be real: God’s plan is way better than anything our “flesh” comes up with. Trading envy for joy? Anger for peace? Gossip for kindness? That’s an upgrade if I’ve ever seen one. So, while crucifying the flesh sounds brutal, it’s actually the pathway to living fully alive.

Bottom line? Ditch the “me-first” mentality, lean into God’s Spirit, and watch Him do His thing. And maybe still eat the cake, because grace is sweet like that.

Personal Prayer

Help me, Lord, to crucify the parts of me that don’t reflect Your love. When I’m tempted to put myself first, give me the strength to choose You instead. When old habits try to creep back in, remind me that I’m no longer a slave to sin—I’m Yours.

I know this process isn’t easy, and some days I’ll stumble. But thank You for Your grace that lifts me up again. Thank You for Your Spirit who guides me, transforms me, and gives me the power to live a life that honors You.

Lord, let my life reflect Your love, Your peace, and Your joy. Keep shaping me, even when it’s uncomfortable, because I trust that what You’re creating in me is far greater than anything I could hold onto.

I surrender my passions and desires to You today. Be my strength, my guide, and my hope. I love You, Lord.

Amen.
