“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.“
— Ephesians 4:15 KJV
Reflection on Today's Verse
Truth without love feels like a slap. Love without truth is just a warm lie. But when truth is soaked in love, it heals. That’s the kind of honesty Paul is talking about—one that builds, not breaks.
Jesus doesn’t want us to be silent about what matters, but He doesn’t want us swinging truth like a hammer either. He’s calling us to grow up—into Him. And growth doesn’t come from yelling, judging, or sugarcoating. It comes from grace. From people brave enough to speak up and tender enough to care.
The point isn’t winning arguments or avoiding offense. The point is to look more like Jesus. And He never sacrificed truth for kindness—or kindness for truth. He held both. So should we.
Growing up in Christ doesn’t mean getting louder. It means getting real, but gentle. Firm, but soft. Honest, but always kind. That’s how the body grows—by building, not bruising.
Grace tells the truth—but it does it with a heart that’s learned to bleed.
Personal Prayer
Lord Jesus, teach me how to speak the truth with Your kind of love. When I want to prove a point, slow me down. When I’m afraid to speak up, give me courage. Help my words heal, not hurt.
Grow me into someone who looks more like You—steady in truth, soft with grace. Let my voice reflect Your heart, not my ego. Shape me into a person who builds others up, not tears them down.
Keep me honest, but humble. Loving, but bold. Make me mature—not just in what I say, but in how I live. You are the Head. I want to grow into You. Amen.
