Ephesians 1:17 – Today’s Verse for July 20, 2025 Sunday

“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:“
—  Ephesians 1:17 KJV

Reflection on Today's Verse

Paul isn’t praying for comfort, wealth, or a life without drama. He’s asking for something deeper—for a kind of knowing that only God can give. This verse isn’t about information. It’s about illumination. God doesn’t want us to just learn about Him. He wants us to see Him—clearly, intimately, personally.

We can’t download divine wisdom through effort alone. It’s gifted. And Paul knows the best thing that could ever happen to anyone is to truly know God. Not vaguely. Not religiously. But to recognize His heart behind every command, every promise, every silence.

The “spirit of wisdom and revelation” isn’t a superpower—it’s eyesight for the soul. Without it, we squint our way through life. With it, things click. Scripture breathes. Trials teach. Jesus feels near. This isn’t knowledge that inflates the ego. It humbles you. It lights a fire you didn’t start, and you wouldn’t want to put out.

Personal Prayer

Father of glory, I don’t want to just know about You. I want to know You. Give me the eyes to see You in Your Word, the ears to hear You in the quiet, and the heart to recognize You in every moment.

Pour into me the spirit of wisdom—not just to understand truth, but to be changed by it.

Reveal Yourself in ways that crush pride, stir love, and make Jesus more real than ever. Amen. (1234567891011121314151617181920)
