Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this. — Ecclesiastes 7:10 KJV
Do not say, “Why is it that the former days were better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask about this. — Ecclesiastes 7:10 NASB
Reflection
We Christians are summoned to trust in God’s sovereignty, live in hope, and be grateful. Instead of yearning for what has been, we should learn from it and take our lessons learned into our present actions and decisions. We ought to instill thankfulness for today’s blessings and trust that God is leading us to a future full of His very promises.
This could mean, setting aside a time to pray and reflect and ask God to reveal His purpose in our lives. It may also include keeping a constant lookout for ways to serve and bless others, to make a difference in our present world.
My Prayer
Lord, I surrender my past to You, knowing that You have redeemed it. I place my future in Your hands, trusting that You have good plans for me. And I commit to living today for Your glory and seeking Your will in all that I do.
Thank You Father for the gift of today. I pray that I use it to grow closer to You, serving others, and to fulfill the purpose You have set before me.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
