Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. — Colossians 2:17 KJV
These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. — Colossians 2:17 NIV
Thought and Reflection
In the world of religious thoughts, Paul reminds the Colossian Christians that while the sparkly religions around them might sound great and may better accommodate their ideal way of life, these religions are just a sorry excuse for what God offers us in Jesus.
In Jesus, we have reality: spiritual reality and human reality. God has become one of us in Jesus so we could be unified with Him. What is genuine is what we find in Jesus.
My Prayer
Grant me focus, O Lord, to follow your Son with everything that is in me. I know such countless other religious thoughts are out there, however I likewise realize that only Jesus showed the amount You love me by passing on for myself and saving me from wrongdoing and demise.
I need to not just trust Him and follow Him, I believe that my personality should be adjusted to His. For the sake of the only genuine Savior, Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
