The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. — Psalm 121:8 KJV
The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. — Psalm 121:8 NIV
Thought and Reflection
“Going out and coming in” deciphers a Hebrew expression referring to day to day work and everyday activities. Going out referred to a man’s venturing out from home in the first part of the day to work and coming in referred to his getting back after work.
All through every one of the activities of the day, the believer could be sure of the Lord’s presence and security.
God knows all about us and our comings and goings. He will watch over us, now and forevermore.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You that when I rise up you are not just there, you are looking after me. All-powerful God, thank You that when I get back toward the end of my day, You are there, accompanying me home and inviting me.
I thank You most of all, dear Father, that when I leave this life and go to the next, You are there to accompany me out of this life and welcome me home to life with You, for eternity! In Jesus’ name I praise You. Amen
