Reflection on Today's Verse
Grace and self-righteousness cannot be mixed. When a person tries to be justified by the law, religious performance, or personal goodness, he is no longer resting in the sufficiency of Christ. The issue is not that good works are bad, but that good works can never become the basis of our standing before God.
For the believer, peace comes from knowing that Christ has already finished the work. We do not stay accepted by God because we perform perfectly. We stand accepted because we are in Christ. Grace teaches us to stop trusting ourselves and to keep our confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ alone.
Personal Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your grace through Jesus Christ. Help me not to trust in my own works, religious effort, or personal righteousness as the basis of my salvation. Remind me daily that Christ is enough, His finished work is complete, and Your grace is sufficient.
Teach me to walk in liberty, not in bondage. Keep my heart humble, thankful, and fully resting in what Christ has done for me. May my life be a response to grace, not an attempt to earn what You have already freely given.
