Reflection on Today's Verse
The flesh cannot produce true righteousness before God. Even when a person wants to do what is good, human strength is still weak and limited. Paul is being honest about the struggle inside man: the desire may be there, but the power is not found in the flesh.
This teaches the believer to stop trusting in self-effort, religious performance, or personal willpower. The answer is not “try harder in the flesh,” but look to Christ. Only the Lord Jesus Christ can deliver, strengthen, and give victory by His grace.
Personal Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for showing me the truth about my weakness. I know that in my flesh dwelleth no good thing, and I cannot please You by my own strength.
Help me not to trust in myself, my works, or my own righteousness. Teach me to rest in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ and to walk by faith in Your grace.
Thank You for the deliverance, mercy, and life that I have in Christ.
