Reflection on Today's Verse
That one verse is a whole gospel message in one breath.
“Who gave himself for our sins…”
This wasn’t a payment you helped complete. Jesus didn’t give a “boost” to your effort—He gave Himself. Your sin problem was handled at the root.“That he might deliver us from this present evil world…”
Grace doesn’t only forgive your past. It also rescues you in the present. Even when the world feels heavy, loud, and corrupt, you’re not trapped in it. You’re already delivered in Christ.“According to the will of God and our Father.”
Your salvation wasn’t an accident, and it wasn’t based on your worthiness. It was God’s will—planned, intentional, settled. That means you don’t have to wake up wondering if you’re still accepted today. In Christ, you are.
When your mind starts drifting back to performance—“I need to do more, I need to be better”—come back here: He gave Himself. He delivered you. God willed it. That’s rest.
Personal Prayer
Father, thank You for Your will and Your grace. Thank You that Christ gave Himself for my sins fully and completely. Remind my heart today that I am not trying to earn what has already been paid for. When this world feels heavy and evil, anchor me in the truth that I have been delivered in Christ.
I pray that Your peace rule my thoughts, and let Your love quiet every fear and every guilt. I choose to rest in what Jesus has finished. In His name, Amen.
