Reflection on Today's Verse
You don’t work for a gift—you receive it. That’s the hard part for most of us. We want to prove ourselves, to stack up enough good deeds to quiet the guilt. But God doesn’t play that game. He hands salvation over freely, not because you earned it, but because Christ already did the heavy lifting. Doesn’t that undo all pride? It cuts the ground right under your feet—no boasting, no “look at me.” Just empty hands, wide open, taking what only He can give.
And when you finally stop wrestling, when you let grace be grace, it changes how you look at others. If God didn’t measure you by performance, why should you measure them? That’s where the weight lifts. That’s where you breathe.
Personal Prayer
Father, thank You for saving me by grace and not by works. Keep me from the pride of thinking I can earn what You already gave. Teach me to rest in Christ’s finished work, and let that same grace spill over into how I treat others today. Amen.
