“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.“
— Philippians 1:6 KJV
Reflection on Today's Verse
God doesn’t draft blueprints He won’t build. That’s Philippians 1:6 in street clothes. He began the good work—He, not you. He carries it. He completes it. So why are you white-knuckling a project that isn’t yours to manage? I keep catching myself grading half-painted walls—calling them failures because they look unfinished up close. But what if the scaffolding is proof the Builder’s on site? You weren’t rescued by hustle; you won’t be perfected by it either.
Grace got this started, grace keeps it moving, grace will land the plane on “the day of Christ.” Yes, you make choices. You show up. You repent fast and trust faster. But the engine underneath all of that is His promise, not your streak. When shame says, “You’re stuck,” ask: did God stall, or did I just stop seeing the progress? He doesn’t abandon apprentices. He teaches them—sometimes with sandpaper. Let Him hold the timetable. Let the unfinished parts breathe. He’s not done, and that’s the best news in the room.
Personal Prayer
Father, thank You for starting what I could never start and for promising to finish what I cannot finish. Quiet the critic in my head and tune me to Your steady voice. Where I rush, slow me; where I fear, anchor me; where I strive, teach me to trust Your hands.
Give me grace to cooperate—open heart, open calendar, open hands. Shape my desires to match Your design. Keep me faithful in small things today, confident that You’re carrying the big thing—me—toward the day of Christ. Amen.
