“The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.“
— Psalm 103:8 KJV
Reflection on Today's Verse
We rush. God doesn’t. That alone is mercy. If He reacted as quickly as we provoke Him, none of us would be here. His anger doesn’t flare up like ours does—it waits, it holds, it bleeds grace instead of rage.
Think about how many times you’ve repeated the same sin. You swore you’d never do it again, but there it was—again. And He didn’t strike you down. Didn’t cut you off. Didn’t pack up His love and walk away. He leaned in closer.
God’s mercy isn’t a fragile thing you can wear out. It’s not a short supply on a shelf somewhere. “Plenteous” means it doesn’t run low—like the ocean doesn’t run dry just because you took a glass of water from it.
And yet, we often live as if we’re on probation with Him. Waiting for the one mistake that tips the scale. That’s not grace. That’s fear. And perfect love throws that out. He’s not counting how many times you mess up; He’s counting how many times He’s forgiven you—and the number is infinite.
If you woke up today, it’s proof He’s still being merciful to you. If you’re breathing, you’re still standing inside grace.
Personal Prayer
Lord, You could have been done with me a long time ago, but here I am—still held, still loved, still covered. Thank You for not treating me like I treat others.
Thank You for being slow when I’m quick, patient when I’m impatient, merciful when I’m petty. Keep my heart soft. Teach me to extend even a fraction of the grace You pour on me every single day. Amen.
