Proverbs 20:22 – Today’s Verse for July 17, 2025 Thursday

“Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the Lord, and he shall save thee.“
—  Proverbs 20:22 KJV

Reflection on Today's Verse

There’s something deeply human about wanting to strike back when we’ve been wronged. We replay the moment in our minds. We think of sharp words we could have said. We fantasize about justice rolling in like thunder—fast, loud, final. But Proverbs 20:22 calls us to something braver: waiting.

Not passive waiting. Not bottling up bitterness with a smile. But trusting that God sees. That He doesn’t need our help with vengeance. That He’ll settle the score—not out of spite, but out of perfect justice we don’t always understand.

It’s not weakness to wait. It’s strength—because you’re choosing faith over fury. You’re letting go of the need to win and handing the battle back to the One who never loses.

And here’s the beautiful part: when you stop obsessing over payback, you free up space in your heart. Space for peace. For healing. For joy that revenge could never offer.

Personal Prayer

Lord, You see what they did. You know the sting, the ache, the injustice. I admit—I want to fix it myself. I want them to feel what I felt. But I trust You more than I trust my anger.

Teach me how to wait well—not with clenched fists, but with open hands. Remind me that You are my defender, my shield, my justice. Heal the wound. Calm the storm in me. And help me walk away—not in defeat, but in freedom.

In Jesus’ name, Amen. (1234567891011121314151617181920)
