1 Timothy 6:17 – Today’s Verse for June 28, 2025 Sunday

“Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy.“
—  1 Timothy 6:17 KJV

Reflection on Today's Verse

Money has this sneaky way of making people feel untouchable. One extra zero in a bank account and suddenly it’s easy to believe we’ve got life under control. But Paul calls that out. He tells Timothy, don’t let the rich get cocky or cozy with their cash. Not because wealth is evil—but because it’s flimsy. It whispers false promises, then vanishes with one market crash or bad decision.

God, on the other hand, isn’t a shaky investment. He’s the true source—the one who not only gives generously, but throws in joy with it. That’s the contrast: wealth makes you worry about keeping it. God gives and lets you breathe.

So the heart check is simple: Where’s your trust parked? Is it sitting on a pile of money? Or resting in the hands of the One who owns everything—including the peace your wealth can’t buy?

Personal Prayer

Lord, You know how easy it is for my heart to drift toward comfort and call it security. But money doesn’t love me back—it just keeps me busy chasing more.

Remind me that You’re the only safe place for my hope. Help me hold what I have with open hands and see it all as a gift—not a trophy. Teach me to enjoy what You provide, without worshiping the provision.

You’re enough. Keep me anchored in that truth. Amen.
