“But godliness with contentment is great gain.“
— 1 Timothy 6:6 KJV
Reflection on Today's Verse
Feels like one of those tiny, profound truths that sneaks up on you. It doesn’t shout; it just sits there and smiles. Godliness, as in leaning into God’s character and rhythm. Contentment, as in refusing to chase every shiny thing. Together? They’re an unstoppable combo.
And sure, the world screams, “More is better,” but Paul looks at Timothy and says, “You already have treasure.” It’s funny — we hustle for gain and end up empty. But when we drop the scramble and settle into God’s way of seeing life, the gain feels real and solid. It’s like one of those jokes you finally “get” days later and it just keeps making you smile.
Personal Prayer
Lord, help me to want what I already have in You. Teach me to grow in Your character and rest in Your provision.
Cut my craving for the next thing and replace it with joy for this moment. Make me rich in the kind of gain that never fades. Amen.
