“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.“
— Philippians 1:3 KJV
Reflection on Today's Verse
Paul’s sitting in a prison cell, yet his first instinct isn’t to complain—it’s to give thanks. And not just to casually say, “Oh yeah, thanks, guys.” No, he directs his gratitude to God. That’s deep. It shows that even in chains, he sees God’s hand in the people around him.
I think about the people in my life—friends, family, mentors. Do I thank God for them? Or do I just take them for granted? Paul reminds me that every good relationship is a gift from God, and I should be more intentional about appreciating them—not just in my mind, but in prayer.
And there’s something powerful about thanking God for people. It changes how we see them. It deepens love. It shifts focus from their flaws to their blessings. Maybe that’s why Paul’s relationships were so strong—he built them on prayer and gratitude.
So today, who are you thanking God for? Maybe send them a text, or even better—pray for them. You never know how much that simple act can bless both them and you.
Personal Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the people You’ve placed in my life. For the friends who encourage me, the family who loves me, and even those who challenge me to grow. When I think of them, let my heart be quick to give thanks, just like Paul did.
Help me to see relationships as gifts from You, not to be taken for granted but cherished and nurtured. Teach me to pray for those I love, not just in moments of need but in everyday gratitude. Let my words and actions reflect the appreciation I hold for them in my heart.
Even in difficult seasons, remind me that I am never alone—You have surrounded me with Your people, and most of all, with Your presence. May my life be a reflection of Your love, always pointing back to the goodness You show me through others.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
