“A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.”
— Psalm 112:5 KJV
Reflection on Today's Verse
This verse is like a quiet but powerful reminder of how God’s economy works. In a world where success often seems tied to hoarding, self-preservation, and climbing over others, Scripture flips the script—generosity leads to blessing. It’s not just about money, though. It’s about an open-handed way of living, where kindness, fairness, and trust in God define how we move through life.
Notice the promise here: “Good will come.” Not might come, not if the conditions are right, but will. That’s a certainty rooted in God’s faithfulness. Generosity isn’t a loss; it’s an investment in something bigger than ourselves. And justice? That’s the heartbeat of God’s character. When we handle our relationships, work, and decisions with integrity, we align ourselves with His ways—and that always leads to something good, even if it doesn’t look the way we expect.
So maybe the question isn’t, “Will I be blessed if I live generously?” but rather, “What’s stopping me from trusting that God will provide?”
Personal Prayer
Lord, You are the giver of all good things, and I want to reflect Your generosity in my own life. Teach me to have an open hand, not clinging to what I have but trusting that You are my provider. Make my heart quick to give, not just in money, but in kindness, patience, and love.
Help me walk with integrity, to handle my affairs with justice, even when no one is watching. Let my decisions reflect Your wisdom, not just my own desires. I know that when I live generously and justly, You promise that good will come. Strengthen my faith to believe that, even when I can’t yet see it.
Lord, remove any fear or selfishness that holds me back. Shape me into someone who reflects Your heart—giving freely, loving deeply, and standing for what is right. May my life be a testimony of Your goodness.
Amen.
