Psalm 22:5 – Today’s Verse for January 29, 2025 Wednesday

“They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.”
Psalm 22:5 KJV

Reflection on Today's Verse

This verse is a reminder that those who trust in God—truly lean on Him—are never abandoned. It doesn’t mean life won’t get hard. It doesn’t mean we won’t feel lost at times. But it does mean that our cries to God don’t fall on deaf ears. The same God who delivered His people in the past is the same God who walks with us now.

Think about David when he wrote this psalm—he wasn’t sitting in a palace sipping wine. He was in distress, crying out in anguish. Yet, in his pain, he remembers this truth: God’s faithfulness is unshakable. Generations before him trusted in God, and they were never ultimately put to shame. Their stories were marked not by despair, but by deliverance.

And that’s the hard part, right? When we’re in the middle of the storm, it feels like God is silent. Like He’s distant. But Psalm 22—this very psalm that begins with “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”—ultimately turns into a declaration of trust and hope. It even foreshadows Jesus on the cross, showing us that suffering is never the end of the story.

So if you’re crying out to God today, know this: He hears you. Trust in Him. His deliverance may not come how or when we expect, but it will come. And when it does, you’ll see—just like those before us—that trusting in Him is never in vain.

Personal Prayer

Heavenly Father, You are the God who hears, the One who delivers, the refuge for all who trust in You. Just as those before me cried out and were saved, I come before You now, laying down my fears, my doubts, and my burdens.

Lord, sometimes it feels like I’m waiting in the dark, wondering if You see me, if You hear me. But Your Word reminds me that no one who trusts in You is put to shame. You have always been faithful, and I choose to believe You will be faithful again.

Strengthen my heart in the waiting. Let my faith be bigger than my fear. Even when I don’t see the answer yet, help me trust that You are working. Turn my cries into songs of praise, my worries into testimonies of Your goodness.

I place my trust in You, Jesus—the One who endured the cross, the One who knows suffering, the One who conquered the grave. In You, I am never forsaken. Amen.
