Proverbs 18:24 – Today’s Verse for January 21, 2025 Tuesday

“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”
Proverbs 18:24 KJV

Reflection on Today's Verse

You know, it’s interesting how life teaches us the value of true friendship. We all have seasons where our social circles are full—plenty of acquaintances, casual connections, people we share laughs with. But when life gets tough, when the weight of the world presses in, that’s when we start to realize: not everyone stays. And honestly, that’s okay. This verse reminds us that quantity in friendships isn’t what truly matters—it’s the depth, the loyalty, and the authenticity that count.

Think about it—Jesus Himself had crowds around Him all the time, but it was a few close friends who walked with Him through everything. And even then, some faltered. But there’s something beautiful about the way this verse points us to the ultimate Friend—Christ. He’s the one who sticks closer than a brother, the one who never walks away, even when we’re at our worst.

In a world where social media makes it easy to collect “friends” by the hundreds, Proverbs 18:24 brings us back to reality. It challenges us to reflect: Who are the people in our lives that truly stand by us? And more importantly, are we that kind of friend to others? Relationships built on faith, love, and trust—those are the ones that endure.

At the end of the day, whether we have one close friend or several, the greatest comfort is knowing we’re never truly alone. God’s presence is constant, His friendship unwavering. And that’s a truth we can rest in, no matter what life throws our way.

Personal Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of true friendship. In a world full of fleeting connections and shallow relationships, I ask for wisdom to recognize and cherish the friends who truly stick close—the ones You have placed in my life for a purpose. Help me to be that kind of friend to others, showing love, loyalty, and grace in every season.

Lord, I am so grateful that no matter who comes and goes, You remain constant. You are the friend who never leaves, who knows me fully and loves me unconditionally. In moments of loneliness or disappointment, remind me that Your presence is enough, and Your love never fails.

Teach me to invest in relationships that reflect Your heart—ones built on trust, kindness, and faith. Let my friendships be a reflection of Your love, bringing encouragement and hope to those around me.

Thank You, Jesus, for sticking closer than a brother, for walking with me through every joy and trial. I place my trust in You, knowing that I am never alone.

In Your precious name, I pray, Amen.
