Romans 12:10 – Today’s Verse for November 25, 2024 Monday

“Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.”
Romans 12:10 KJV

Reflection on Today's Verse

Let’s break this down. “Be devoted to one another in love”—that’s not the “I’ll-like-your-posts-if-you-like-mine” kind of devotion. This is deep, sacrificial love. The “I’ll-help-you-move-on-a-Saturday-even-though-you-didn’t-label-your-boxes” level of commitment. And believe me, that’s love.

Then there’s the kicker: “Honor one another above yourselves.” Above yourself? You mean, like, let someone else take the last slice of pizza? (Yes, even if it’s stuffed crust.) This isn’t about false humility or fishing for compliments—this is about genuinely lifting others up, even when it costs you a little pride, a little time, or your comfort zone.

Paul’s point here? The Christian life isn’t a solo gig. It’s a community effort, where love isn’t measured in words but in action. And sometimes, that action looks a lot like letting Aunt Karen win at Scrabble or forgiving your neighbor when their dog “decorates” your yard.

So today, maybe start small. Call someone just to check in, even if it’s inconvenient. Let the person behind you in line go first. And when someone tells you how great you are, instead of soaking it all in, redirect that glory to God—He’s the ultimate reason we can love like this in the first place.

Honor. Love. Devotion. And maybe, just maybe, some stuffed crust sacrifice. Amen?

Personal Prayer

Lord, thank You for the gift of love and community. You call me to be devoted to others, to honor them above myself, and honestly, that’s not always easy. My heart can be selfish, my patience can run thin, and sometimes I’d rather focus on me. But Your Word reminds me that love isn’t about convenience—it’s about commitment, sacrifice, and reflecting Your grace.

Help me today, Lord, to live this out. Teach me to see others the way You see them—with value, beauty, and purpose. Give me a heart that delights in honoring them, whether it’s through simple acts of kindness or quiet sacrifices no one sees but You.

When I feel tempted to seek recognition or to put my needs first, remind me of Jesus, who humbled Himself to lift us up. Let His example guide my thoughts, words, and actions.

Fill me with Your love so that I can pour it out on others. May my life be a reflection of the devotion You’ve shown me.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
