Ephesians 2:10 – Today’s Verse for November 12, 2024 Tuesday

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:10 KJV

Reflection on Today's Verse

The verse says we’re “God’s handiwork,” which is like saying we’re not some assembly line product God whipped up to just sit around gathering dust. Nope! You and I? We’re custom-made creations. Think of it like we’re each a unique piece of art (not just your basic IKEA chair), and we’ve been crafted for a purpose.

And here’s the kicker: these “good works” God has lined up for us aren’t random to-dos that God adds as an afterthought. He actually prepared them in advance. Imagine God in eternity past, thinking, “You know, when I make this person, I’m going to wire them just right to do this specific good work. They’ll bring light and love to places that only they can reach.” It’s both empowering and a bit terrifying, right? Like, there’s a cosmic mission with your name on it. No pressure!

What I love is that this is more than just a “do-gooder” pep talk. It’s a reassurance that we’re not here by accident. Sometimes life feels like we’re wandering aimlessly, but Ephesians 2:10 reminds us we’re actually part of a divine strategy. Each of us is positioned perfectly – with our quirks, our strengths, even our weaknesses – to do what God has prepared for us.

So, what’s the takeaway here? Well, maybe it’s that the good we’re meant to do in the world doesn’t have to look massive or flashy. Sometimes the work God prepared in advance for us is simple kindness, a listening ear, or speaking up when it counts. Let’s face it: doing good often looks pretty ordinary. But the fact that we’re doing what God prepared for us? That makes even the smallest act of love a masterpiece.

Personal Prayer

Dear God, thank You for creating me with care and purpose. It’s humbling to know I’m Your handiwork, designed with love and intention. Sometimes I feel small or unsure of my purpose, but Your Word reminds me that You’ve already prepared good things for me to do.

Help me to trust in that, Lord. Open my eyes to see the opportunities You’ve placed in my path. Give me the courage to step into the good works You’ve planned, no matter how big or small they might seem. Let me walk in kindness, humility, and love, knowing that in these things, I’m doing Your will.

Thank You for calling me Yours and for giving my life meaning through Your purpose. May I live each day with a heart open to Your leading, confident that I am exactly where You want me to be.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
