Psalm 31:19 – Today’s Verse for October 28, 2024 Monday

“Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!”
Psalm 31:19 KJV

Reflection on Today's Verse

Imagine standing in front of an ocean of blessings, only this one doesn’t stay still; it’s rushing toward you, wave after wave, like God can’t help but show His love extravagantly to those who trust Him. David’s awe at this boundless, almost unfair abundance of kindness is so genuine. For all the trials he’s faced—enemies, betrayals, personal mistakes—he’s convinced that God’s goodness is stockpiled, saved up like a treasure chest ready to burst open. And who gets to unlock it? Those who fear Him and those who make Him their refuge. How cool is that?

But let’s be honest—most of us are way more used to waiting in line for blessings than we are at having them piled on us! Yet here David is, saying God is out here storing up goodness for us. Like, what? Imagine finding out someone had been setting aside gifts for you your entire life, ready to surprise you at the perfect moment. It’s wild. And if we really believed this, it would probably change how we deal with anxiety, setbacks, and disappointments, don’t you think? Knowing God’s goodness isn’t just rationed out, but freely given to those who seek Him, would give us the courage to walk forward even on shaky ground. So next time life feels scarce, remember: God’s got more goodness saved up than we could ever imagine.

Personal Prayer

Lord, Your goodness is beyond what I can comprehend. Thank You for storing up blessings for me, even when I don’t see them or fully understand how much You care. You are so generous, so ready to pour out grace on those who trust in You. Help me to rest in that truth, especially in times when I feel uncertain or anxious. Teach me to see past my worries and remember that Your love is constant and overflowing.

Give me the courage to seek You as my refuge, to let go of fear, and to wait patiently for the goodness You promise. Open my heart to recognize and receive Your blessings, both big and small, and remind me that You’re always working things out for my good. Thank You for loving me in ways I don’t always deserve and for being the safe place I can turn to at all times. Amen.
