Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. — Matthew 11:28 KJV
Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. — Matthew 11:28 NASB
Reflection
We need to examine where we are getting comfort and relief. Are we looking for the fleeting things that will soon be over, or are we putting our burdens at Jesus’ feet? Accepting His invitation requires humility and trust, acknowledging that we cannot do it all on our own and that His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
Thus let us embrace, instead, the restful assurance Jesus gives. He knows our struggles very well and gives peace freely. In His rest lies renewal for our spirit, the predominance of hope in every new day, and unfailing confidence.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the invitation to come to You when I am weary and burdened. Help me to trust in Your promise of rest and to lean upon You in times of trouble.
Teach me to cast my care upon You, finding peace in Your presence. Renew my spirit within me and strengthen my faith, that I may walk each day in light of Your love. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
