2 Timothy 1:8 – Today’s Verse for May 3, 2025 Saturday

“Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God.“
2 Timothy 1:8 KJV

Reflection on Today's Verse

This verse tells us not to be ashamed of the gospel—or of the suffering that sometimes comes with it. That’s not always easy. No one signs up for pain, mockery, or being misunderstood. But Paul’s words cut through the noise: following Jesus isn’t about comfort; it’s about courage. Real faith isn’t proven in a crowd; it’s proven in the fire.

God doesn’t call us to hide or play it safe. He invites us to share in something bigger than our fear—His purpose, His power, His story. When we stand with Christ, even in the hard stuff, we’re not losing; we’re living. The shame? That belongs to silence, not to the gospel.

So if you’re feeling the pressure to shrink back or blend in—don’t. You were never called to be a shadow. You were called to be a witness. Bold, unashamed, and lit up with grace.

Personal Prayer

Lord, I don’t want to live quiet when You’ve called me to be bold. Take away the fear that makes me hide my faith. Help me stand firm, not just when it’s easy, but when it’s uncomfortable, when it costs me something. Remind me that You never asked me to be popular—You asked me to be faithful.

Give me courage to speak about You without shame. Let my life show Your power, not just in blessings, but in struggles too. When I feel weak or afraid, help me remember I’m not alone. You are with me, and that’s more than enough.

Use my story—even the messy parts—to bring light to others. Let me never be ashamed of the gospel that saved me. Amen.
