“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.“
— 2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV
Reflection on Today's Verse
Let’s be honest—this verse is wild. God took the only perfectly sinless person to ever walk this earth and poured all the world’s mess onto Him. Not just our sins, but all of it—every cruel thought, every broken vow, every ugly thing humanity has ever done. And Jesus didn’t flinch. He became sin. Not just carried it—became it. So we could become what we never earned: righteous.
It’s the greatest exchange in history—our filth for His holiness. No paperwork. No resume. Just grace so ridiculous it’ll make your head spin. And here’s the kicker: we didn’t do a thing to deserve it. He didn’t owe us this. He wanted to.
This isn’t about trying harder. This is about trusting deeper. If you’re in Christ, you don’t have to perform for love—you live from it. You’re already made right, not because you cleaned yourself up, but because He became dirty in your place.
Let that truth wreck your pride and heal your shame. You’re not faking your way through this faith—you’re clothed in righteousness, and it’s not borrowed. It’s yours now. Because Jesus gave you everything.
Personal Prayer
Lord, You took what was mine—sin, guilt, shame—and gave me what was Yours—righteousness, freedom, peace. I’ll never fully grasp how deep that mercy runs, but I know I need it. I mess up, I fall short, and yet You still call me righteous because of Jesus.
Thank You for the cross that changed everything. Keep my heart soft. Don’t let me forget the price You paid. And when I’m tempted to earn what’s already mine, remind me—it is finished. Amen.
