For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. — 2 Corinthians 4:16 KJV
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. — 2 Corinthians 4:16 NIV
Bible Verse Reflection
We have received mercy by God’s grace for help in time of need, so we do not lose heart knowing that those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength and mount up with wings like eagles. “They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” God promised to strengthen us even the weary through His divine grace, for we have put on the new self, which is being renewed to a true knowledge of Christ, according to His image.
Paul was awed by the laws of God regarding the inner man , namely that we are refreshed every day. Paul made it clear in this passage that he was ready and willing to endure every kind of hardship and difficulties, sorrow and risks, because of the certainty of our hope in the glorious resurrection from the dead. This mortal will be immortalized and this body which is slowly decaying and becoming ill will be transformed into the immortal – and it’s entirely by grace through the faith of Jesus Christ, our only God and Savior.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father God of Heaven, what a beautiful faith we can have through Christ that each day, we are rejuvenated within our own man even though the outside of our body is becoming older and becoming less. Thanks for my privilege in Christ and for the wonderful future that I will have in heaven.
I ask that I not give up when I witness my man’s outer appearance becoming weak, but I will remain firm in my faith and continue to pursue the call to heaven from God to Christ Jesus and look forward to His return, when this mortal will be able to wear immortality and the body that is perishable will be covered with an eternal garment, for Your greater glory and praise. What a joy I feel when I praise and thank You in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
