“So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.“
— 1 Corinthians 3:7 KJV
Reflection on Today's Verse
We love to measure our worth by what we do. Plant the seeds. Water the ground. Hustle. Push. Prove. But Paul cuts through all of that here. You can plant all day, water all night—but if God doesn’t breathe life into it, nothing happens. He’s not dismissing effort; he’s just putting it in its proper place.
This verse is humbling and freeing. It tells us we’re not the hero of the story—God is. That means when things grow, succeed, or bloom, it’s not because we nailed it. It’s because He did. We’re part of the process, but we’re not the power behind it.
So take a breath. Do your part faithfully. But remember—fruit comes from grace, not grind. Results are in God’s hands. And that’s a very good place for them to be.
Personal Prayer
God, I’ve been holding tight to outcomes—trying to measure my worth by results, by what grows or doesn’t. But today, I lay that down. You are the One who makes things grow. Not me. Not my effort. Not my plans. Just You.
Help me show up with faithfulness, not pressure. Help me plant with peace, water with joy, and trust You for the rest. Remind me that my part matters, but it’s not everything. You are everything.
I surrender the results to You. Let it grow—or not—as You see fit. Just keep my heart steady in the waiting.
Amen.
