1 Corinthians 15:1-4 – Today’s Verse for April 9, 2025 Wednesday

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.“
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV

Reflection on Today's Verse

Paul getting straight to the point: Don’t forget the gospel. Not just any gospel—the gospel. The one that says Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. It’s not just a nice story. It’s the core, the beating heart of our faith. If we lose this, we’re not just off track—we’re not even on the map.

Paul’s not giving us something new here. He’s reminding us. Because we forget. We get distracted, spiritual amnesia kicks in, and suddenly we’re trying to earn grace like it’s a paycheck. But grace isn’t wages—it’s a gift we didn’t deserve, wrapped in blood and resurrection.

The resurrection part? That’s not a footnote. It’s everything. Without it, Jesus is just a tragic figure with a great moral compass. But with it, He’s the Conqueror of death. He’s the reason your worst day doesn’t get the final word.

This gospel saves, not because we understand every inch of it, but because we stand in it. That’s what Paul’s getting at: hold on tight. Don’t trade it for anything flashier, easier, or more comfortable. The gospel’s simple, but it’s not soft. It’s rugged grace. It’s holy ground. And it’s ours—not because we climbed up to God, but because He came down to us, walked through death, and walked out of the tomb like He owned the place.

Personal Prayer

Lord Jesus, sometimes I forget. I get caught up in everything else and lose sight of the one thing that matters most—that You died for me, were buried, and rose again. That’s not just theology. That’s life. That’s hope. That’s everything.

Remind me, again and again, of this gospel. Not the version I twist to fit my moods or the one the world waters down, but the real thing—the rugged, scandalous grace You gave when You bled for me.

Help me stand in that truth when I feel unworthy. Help me cling to it when life feels shaky. Let it anchor me when my faith wobbles and speak louder than the lies I hear in my head.

You didn’t stay in the grave. And because of that, I don’t have to stay stuck in fear, guilt, or shame. Let Your resurrection power live in me today, in the small moments and the big battles.

Thank You for the gospel. Keep it alive in my heart, fresh on my lips, and steady under my feet.

In Your name Jesus, Amen.
