But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty. — 1 Corinthians 1:27 KJV
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. — 1 Corinthians 1:27 NIV
Thought and Reflection
The Cross is a particularly hostile image when seen in its most essential and raw structure. For God to become human flesh and live among us is adequately amazing. For God to be dependent upon the notions and afflictions of mortality and human necessities is inconceivable. For God to persevere through the insults and inhumanities of the Cross is ludicrous. However, that is the Gospel.
What gives off an impression of being absurd, feeble, and hostile has the capacity to re-make us and rouse us to unrivaled faith. At the point when we come to the Cross and Resurrection of Jesus, we come to the inconceivable which was achieved by God’s grace for ourselves and in us. Only God would bring us salvation in such a way.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, I realize that the Cross might be senseless to some people. I realize that many of those who wear the Cross as an image don’t respect it.
Oh Lord, I admit that Jesus’ ability to go to the Cross for me is powerfully convicting and reassuring. Thank You for the greatest gift of love and mercy. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
